Bea's father Brian who was an equine vet, who took his own life at the age of three when Bea turned three was an victim of self-harm. She was told about his death only at the age of thirteen. Bea along with her younger sister Sinead were taken care of by their maternal grandmother Helen (nee Moloney) who was a secondary school teacher and jockey trainer, as well as a professional jockey for a time. The family was awed by horses, races and the racing industry. Bea started out her career as a tour guide at the Irish National Stud. However Bea realized at an early age that the racing industry wasn't the right fit for her.
